PDF Follow-up letter from Dr. Don Huber on the deregulation of Roundup Ready Alfalfa
In a long awaited response, Dr. Don Huber sent a letter explaining in more detail his concerns and hopes of the GMO/glyphosate program of farming. In this letter Dr. Huber explains why he sent the original letter to Sec. Vilsack (USDA) and reiterates his concerns that the continual use of the GMO/ glyphosate program is not the safest way to farm for either the soil or the consumers of the harvests.

DTN Production Blog: Corn Seed Doesn't Like a Cold Drink
Dan Davidson
Growers are anxious to plant corn and some have already started, but the threat of a week of cool and wet weather prompted many to cancel their plans and for good reason -- corn can't handle a cold drink. Click here for complete article.

DTN Production Blog: Fellow Farmer's Observations
Dan Davidson
Last week BRT Ag and Turf came to plant a corn plot at the farm - it was a big plot covering between 30 and 35 acres using a conventional non-GM hybrid and a BRT fertilizer program. I whacked out the cover crop and winter annuals with Gramoxone and then sprayed on a generic atrazine and metalochlor residual. Click here for complete article.

Ag Chemical and Crop Nutrient Interactions – Current Update
Don M. Huber, Emeritus Professor, Purdue University
Thirty+ years ago, U.S. agriculture started a conversion to a monochemical herbicide program focused around glyphosate (Roundup®). The introduction of genetically modified (Roundup Ready®) crops has greatly increased the volume and scope of glyphosate usage, and conversion of major segments of crop production to a monochemical herbicide strategy. Improved Corn and Soybean Growth with Humic-Based Products in the Upper Midwest.
Robert Streit, Central Iowa Agronomics and Jeffrey D. Littrell, FHR
Humic products have been used for years in production agriculture with varying results but have generally not been researched much at U.S. universities. The varying results are likely due to differences among companies in product source, methods used to process the materials, and lack of concise protocols in how humates have been used successfully in the past. Glyphosate
Pesticide Action Network Asia and the Pacific (PANAP)
Glyphosate is sprayed on numerous crops and plantations, including nearly 80% of genetically modified (GM) crops (canola, corn, cotton, soybean, sugar beet); with relatively high levels permitted as residues in food and animal feed. It is used as a pre-harvest desiccant, and because it is a systemic herbicide it cannot be completely removed from food by washing, peeling or processing. It is widely used in home gardens and public places including roadsides. Click here for complete article.
